Maintenance Technician

A non-exempt position that maintains and repairs physical structures of buildings and grounds by performing the following duties.  Drives Casey’s Pond shuttle vehicles to transport residents for individual appointments and group activities.  Performs the following duties in a courteous, helpful and professional manner.

Reports to the Plant Operations Director.

None.

Essential Functions:

  • Helps maintain, clean and paint structural repairs to hardware and furnishings of buildings and units.
  • Ground maintenance activities, such as snow removal, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse, sweeping walkways.
  • Assists other departments as requested, including moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
  • Ensures all work orders assigned are satisfactorily completed.
  • Maintains high quality standards for the buildings, grounds and mechanical plants, ensuring that public areas, rental units, buildings and grounds meet first class standards at all times.
  • Communicates with supervisors and front desk staff of potential problems that might arise or affects resident satisfaction or safety.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Adheres to company policies and follows all safety regulations.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, while never sacrificing safety.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Delivers resident requested items, as necessary.
  • Performs minor repairs to units.
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
  • Delivers excellent customer service by being courteous, helpful, and informative.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to transportation services; shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Drives multi-passenger shuttle vehicles in a safe manner to transport residents.
  • Assists residents with loading / unloading groceries and/or other personal items.
  • Assists disabled / elderly passengers into and out of vehicle.
  • Promptly reports any accident to direct supervisor and follows the specified accident procedure.
  • Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions of vehicle, tires, or other areas of the workplace.
  • Treats residents and guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction and strives to exceed customer expectations.
  • Promote positive image of community and serve as ambassador of community to visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in line with HIPAA compliance.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

Experience  

Three to five years of related experience desirable. 

Requirements:

  1. If car is used, must provide proof of adequate insurance coverage totaling at least $100,000 and valid Colorado driver’s license.
  2. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
  4. TB Screening upon hire.
  5. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  6. The employee is occasionally required to smell as a tool for diagnosis.

Working Conditions:

  1.  Position is in a residential care environment, and involves walking, standing, sitting, bending stooping, twisting, turning, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, and balancing.
  2. This position has been classified as Resident-Facing, a position in which the incumbent could reasonably be expected to routinely interact with resident and/or resident family members. Employees in Resident-Facing positions are exposed to healthcare conditions that may require additional training, immunizations, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  3. Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather); risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may also include exposure to various hazards including: drugs, chemicals, infectious/biological materials, falls, burns, odors, and cuts from equipment.

Compensation: 

 $25.00 - $35.00 per hour dependent upon experience
